Radio Tour Intro

Radio Tour
Wow! What an exciting week ahead. We are going through Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, and Florida all in less than a week. We are doing a radio tour because our first single titled "Red Roots" has been released. Yes. Red Roots is also our group name. Both our group name and song represent the core message and focus of our group that we are rooted in the blood of Christ. His sacrifice on the cross gave our lives meaning and hope. The song “Red Roots” tells a story of a dad and his daughter going on a hunting trip looking for Sassafras trees. They need the red roots of the Sassafras trees to make red tea with. The dad uses the hunting trip to show his daughter how the red roots of the sassafras tree compare to the red roots of Jesus Christ. The song “Red Roots” blends our earlier bluegrass and contemporary styles to form our new Christian Country sound. We are excited to get to meet all of the djs and people on the road throughout the tour. Thanks to those who play and request our song. It helps us so much whenever people call their radio stations to request "Red Roots", and when a dj gives our song a listen. We want to also thank those who have encouraged us and supported us. We are going to have a great week, and we can't wait.

Red Roots Music Video

The Music Video is finally here! It seems like yesterday that we were in the woods playing our instruments, and a film crew just came walking by and started shooting.  Well that's not exactly how it happened, but we did film in the woods obviously (which was so much fun if you like sweat and dirt ha). I've already talked about the woody fun that we had in the last blog, so I'll talk about the more serious stuff.  The video is so important for us to have with the song because it is kind of like our motto.  We are Red Roots, and we have Red Roots.  Having Red Roots is the most important part of our lives.  Jesus Christ is the foundation of our lives.  He is the most important reason to live and to sing.  Being rooted in Christ gives me true contentness and happiness that I can continue living each and everyday.  I surely am not perfect, but God sees only my Red Roots.

Music Video Shoot

We are so excited about our first music video.  Our first "Red Roots" single is the song we decided to do it on.  As you can see with the pictures, there was alot of shooting (video not gun) in the woods.  We also shot some on a porch to give a more country vibe to the video.  We all three are shot hunting for the sassafras trees with my dad (as you can see to the right).  We are playing our instruments on a big fallen tree which was scary and fun at the same time.  Just imagine sticks poking you in your eye, trying not drop your instrument, and managing to sing and play all while in high heels.  I know. It was probably more funny than scary ha. Nicole digs alot throughout the video also because she loves getting her hands in the dirt, not really, but me and Nika forced her to.  She is awesome because she did it with a smile.  It was fun to see our dad play also in the video.  He plays the character of our dad very well obviously, and he loves to hunt and the outdoors; so needless to say he was a natural-born actor.  My mom appears a few times in and out serving the red tea, so she also made her shining debut ha.  We hope everyone likes the finished project whenever it is done.  We feel that this video will give everyone a better idea of the message of the song.

Singing News Article

“Red Roots”

Nineteen years ago, our parents, Mark and Sherry Taylor, were told they were having a baby. That was good news to them and our four-year old brother, Mark, Jr. A week later the news changed, as the doctor saw another baby on the ultrasound. Now, instead of one, there were two. Another visit a week later revealed three babies this time! In seven months, three tiny red-heads made their appearance, and “Red Roots” was born—literally!

At age 8, with our parents’ love and example, we started singing in the children’s choir at church. Nika soon began playing guitar, Natalie, piano, and Nicole asked for drum lessons. The band director tried to discourage her, saying she didn’t have any rhythm, but God’s will soon told him differently. Eventually, we all added other instruments; bass, mandolin, violin, and accordion. As we practiced in one room, mom prayed in the next. Our pastor, Brother Bill Barton, asked us to move our practices to a live audience at a rehabilitation center. There, the men clapped for us and encouraged us, even when we hit clunkers and sour notes.

In a brief time, God began to open many doors for us. Our eyes and hearts were opened as well. God revealed to us that being involved in church, or in a Christian band, would not save us. We needed a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Now, we truly did have “Red Roots,” not only on the outside, but also on the inside.

During our senior year, we bought our mom tickets to an Isaacs’s concert for her birthday. We noticed, while purchasing the tickets, there was also a talent contest that night. Winning the contest was exciting, but playing with the Isaacs was even more exciting! Later, Ben Isaac became the producer of our first single. This caught the attention of Rick Schweinsberg and Johnny Sansom, of Daywind Recording Studios, and we were signed to their Red Hen Label. Our mom wasn’t the only one who got a present that night!

The single, “Red Roots,” tells the story of a dad and his daughter looking for the roots of a sassafras tree for tea. Through the hunting trip, the father shows his daughter how the red roots of the tree compare to our red roots in Jesus Christ. This single blends our earlier bluegrass and contemporary styles to form our new Christian Country sound. “Red Roots,” will soon be released to radio. Please call your local Christian station and ask d.j.s to play it for you, so that you, too, can share the message that we are rooted in the blood of Christ. NQC 2010

NQC ;-)
NQC 2010!  We didn't think that our time this year could've been better than last year, but it definitely was.  We were reunited with all of our friends and saw so many people that we admired.  Can you imagine seeing those you listen to all of the time or have grown up listening just walk right by in front of you?  Our legs giving out from walking, our voices dry from talking, our faces hurting from smiling and laughing, and our minds wide open to listen to advice from others describes our week perfectly.  We can't wait till next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!You can watch our videos on our home page or on facebook.

Studio Time

Our summer flew by.  Alot of our time was spent in the studio working on the first 3 songs of our album.  We recorded the first 3, and they are available at our concerts for purchase on a demo cd.  We are so excited about them because we feel that they have the message, sound, and style that defines who we are as a band.  We feel so blessed to have such a GREAT producer Ben Isaacs (yes from the Isaacs) producing the cd.  He did such a great job of putting together the sound that we wanted.  The first song is a song called "Red Roots."  It tells a story of a dad and his daughter on a hunting trip looking for a Sassafras tree to make red tea with.  He compares the red roots of the sassafras tree to the Red Roots of the blood of Jesus Christ.  The second song is titled "Hard to Stumble."  It's message is to keep close to God because it's hard to stumble when you're on your knees.  I'm so glad that God saved me so that I can live a peaceful life if I stay close to Him.  The third song is titled "Neath the Light." It speaks of God's love for his children, and that he will guide, protect, and comfort those who have faith in Him.  Nothing is better than being under God's Light.
