Church Story: I work with the kids at my church and one Sunday in Jr. Church the lesson was about Daniel and the Lions' Den. So I decided to have them act it out to help them understand it all. All the little girls that were there were the lions. So when it came to the part where Daniel was supposed to be thrown in, the boy playing the part turned to me and said, "I'm not gonna let them throw me to a bunch of girls!!!" |

Church Story: My husband and I have been in fulltime ministry for more than thirty years. I would like to share a story that still tickles our funny bone. My husband had just graduated from Bible college and had been invited to come and candidate for his first church. Just a few days before the Sunday morning he was to preach, the upholstery on the driver’s seat of the car ripped and was coming apart. We thought we were soooo smart when we took several long strips of duct tape and taped the seat together. (You know you are a red neck when....) Sunday morning came. We dressed in our Sunday best and headed to church. Our baby was a little fussy so I was distracted as we exited our car. My husband was invited to sit on the platform with the praise team and a couple deacons. After a few songs and introductory remarks by one of the deacons, my husband stood in the pulpit. I was sooooooo proud of him as he started preaching. He was very animated and raised his hand to drive home a point. That’s when I noticed he had a silver tail with a knot at the end swinging from his “behind.” I blinked and gasped at the same time. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I was too mortified to laugh. As long as he kept his hands down, his silvery “tail” stayed put, but every time he lifted his hands his “tail” would swing around. I couldn’t concentrate on his sermon. I was too busy trying to figure out a way I could get up there and yank that tail off before he dismissed the service and would shake hands with the congregation. When he finally finished his sermon, he bowed his head in prayer. I tiptoed up to him and yanked the duct tape “tail” off of him and then slipped back to my seat before he said, “Amen.” |
